The Biermann House recently underwent a complete renovation by Powers Ventures after sitting empty for a couple of decades and becoming completely dilapidated and uninhabitable. It is now being used as their corporate offices. The house has a very rich history. Adolph Biermann came to the US from Norway in 1862 and moved to Rochester after the Civil War. He ran for various political offices and was successful in becoming County Auditor, which he served for three terms. Later he became state tax collector and served as State Auditor from 1891 to 1895. He sold his 340 acre farm to Dr William and Charles Mayo in 1907 for $20,000. Dr Charlie and his family often stayed at the Biermann House before later building Mayowood just up the hill overlooking the Zumbro River in the 1920s.
