EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Editorial photography holds special meaning for professional photographer Dean Riggot. It brings him back to his roots, where he got his start as an editorial photographer. He spent nine years working as a photojournalist for the Rochester Post-Bulletin, and several business and agri news publications before branching out into other areas of photography.
During his early years in the trade, Dean gained invaluable experience shooting environmental portraits, sports, feature stories, lifestyle, agriculture and more. Anything you’ve seen in a newspaper, Dean shot on a daily basis. Dean shot it all — from the fun stuff to the emotionally moving to capturing everyday life.
Dean has specialized in editorial photography for 30 years. He has shot for publications nationwide and considers it a staple of his business. Although he spends a lot of his time doing commercial and corporate photography, the experience in these other areas has only made him a more proficient editorial photographer.

My university, located in Indiana, needed a photo of an alum who works in Rochester, MN. I got Dean’s name from the alum’s workplace (Mayo Clinic), did some due diligence and ended up contracting with him. Scheduling with this alum, a busy surgeon, wasn’t easy, but Dean was patient and especially generous with his time. He went above and beyond by shooting photos of her in street clothes at her office and in surgical scrubs during an operation at her hospital. The photos were gorgeous. He produced beautiful final versions in a timely manner. I’ve worked with many freelancers and he was among the very easiest, and his work was among the very best. Hire him.

“Dean shot an editorial cover for our magazine. He was very professional, gave us lots of options and the images turned out great. Would definitely recommend and use his services again.”
