As an editorial photographer based in Rochester, Minnesota, I’m always photographing various events for one publication or another. and for the past few months I’ve been documenting the demolition of Mayo Clinc’s Ozmun Building, to make way for Mayo’s new downtown hospital. This is the first step in building Mayo Clinic’s new $5 billion “Bold Forward Unbound” expansion project, which centers around a new downtown Rochester, MN, hospital that will connect to Gonda via a skyway. They plan to start construction later this year and finish the project in 2030. The Ozmun Building complex, which includes Ozmun West, Ozmun Center, Ozmun East, and a parking ramp, stands on the site of the former Olmsted County Courthouse. The section being torn down in these photos is the parking ramp at the end of the Ozmun complex.
