As an agricultural photographer based in Rochester, Minnesota, who shoots primarily throughout the midwest, I am constantly out driving the backroads photographing farm life in rural America. A few weeks ago I was all over southern Minnesota photographing farmers with their vintage tractors for a project SEMA Equipment is working on. When passing through Fremont, Minnesota, I came upon this very old country store, which I had actually stopped to photograph in the past. But this time the lighting was absolutely beautiful as the sun was about to set, so I just had to stop.
The Fremont Store, located just south of Lewiston, Minnesota, was built in 1856 and still functions as a store today. It is currently owned and operated by 101-year-old, Martha Johnson, who lives right next door.
