Industrial photography is one of my favorite subjects, along with agricultural photography. And last week I was hired to spend a day doing an industrial photography shoot at Vetter Stone in Kasota, Minnesota. The company had recently hired a marketing person and  launched a new website, but had never had any professional industrial photography done. I spent the day photographing guys removing stone from the quarry, hauling around stones that weighed 20,000 pounds, and then went inside where they cut, grind, smooth, polish and package the stone. It was an amazing process and a ton of fun to photograph! I’ve been a commercial industrial photographer here in Minnesota for three decades now and have photographed quite a variety of subjects, but had never been to a rock quarry before.

For more than a century, stone has been quarried, cut and shipped to destinations around the world from Minnesota quarries in the Kasota-Mankato stone district and from their Alabama quarries. A fourth generation family business, Vetter Stone and Alabama Stone have earned a reputation for consistent product quality, technical precision and personalized customer service.
