I was recently was hired to do some commercial architectural photography at of the new McNeilus Trucking building in Dodge Center, Minnesota, for longtime client, Knutson Construction. McNeilus has been around since 1970 and is the country’s leader in ready-mixed concrete trucks and refuse collection vehicles. They were started locally and later sold to Oshkosh out of Wisconsin. This recent project is an office building on the company’s Dodge Center, Minnesota campus and is absolutely beautiful. I photographed various angles on the main entry area with it’s polished cement floor, the front desk made of black granite, their conference room featuring two walls of windows, a staircase with custom overhead artwork made of huge steel cement mixer blades, the break room, office area and the exterior of the building.

Architectural photography like this is always interesting to me as I love finding cool angles that highlight the structure and it’s unique design. It can also be tedious and cumbersome as I often have to create various “digital plates” that I can later put together in Photoshop, which helps balance out areas with different lighting temperatures. It’s a technique I’ve used and perfected over the past 15 years. Anyway, below are a few favorites form this shoot. Enjoy!
