I’ve been doing commercial photography shoots at Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minnesota, for quite a few years now, but I had no idea they kept bees and actually harvest the honey! How cool is that?! This is a very new thing for them, but it seems to be going well and something they will continue to do and build upon. So a few weeks ago I went out with Course Superintendent, Jake Kocak, and photographed him harvesting honey. It was something I had never seen done before and was really interesting, as you’ll see here in the below photos. And thankfully it was pretty cold out, and along with the smoke he uses, the bees were pretty docile. I had a couple land on me but was never bit. Jake had the full suit for protection, but unfortunately there wasn’t a spare, so I just took my chances! The things I do for my clients! Haha! ;-)
